Elfi Arkus-Duntov and Jerry Burton: the authorized Zora biography

Elfi Arkus-Duntov Jerry Burton is the widow-years stitch: after Zora’s death she enabled the authorized life that still stands. This page will not invent her editorial hours or a kitchen interview.

Documented

Elfi Arkus-Duntov Jerry Burton is not a claim that the National Corvette Museum commissioned this note and not a claim that Chevrolet asked for a widow chapter. Zora Arkus-Duntov died 21 April 1996. Elfi died 23 October 2008. In the years between those dates, Jerry Burton wrote Zora Arkus-Duntov: The Legend Behind Corvette (Bentley Publishers, 2002). That book remains the standard authorized life. This page owns the biography and widow-years stitch. The short First Lady of Corvette title note already holds Hall of Fame induction and museum language for the title. It does not own Burton’s book.

Museum narrative

The National Corvette Museum Hall of Fame page for Elfi (2022, Enthusiast Category) states that she enabled that biography and calls her indispensable to it. Museum copy, not a novel claim. Bentley’s publisher copy for the book says Burton spent hundreds of hours with Elfi and recorded interviews with Zora. Those tapes remain unpublished. This page labels that as publisher copy. It will not invent which reels exist, who holds them, or a transcript line.

The museum’s 2022 Hall of Fame presentation film identifies Burton on screen as “Author, Automotive Historian, and Friend of Elfi.” That is museum presentation language. This page will not invent which sentences in the film are his voice and will not lift unverified film lines into novel dialogue. The museum note holds the institutional door. Visit Bowling Green. This site is not stocked by the museum shop.

Widow years, not a kitchen scene

After April 1996 the public record still shows Elfi in the late-life travel lane already filed on this site. The Malcolm Konner / Paramus June 1990 note holds ticket stubs naming both and Furman’s summers 1978–1990. The Grosse Pointe Woods note holds the 521 Lochmoor letterhead as Documented later home and keeps the 2010 listing after her death with the rule that Elfi is not named as seller. Those doors support the widow years without inventing a tape recorder on the kitchen table. Exact editorial role, hour counts beyond publisher copy, and dialogue with Burton stay OPEN until a primary transcript or signed memo is in hand.

Hall of Fame copy also names August 1994 as their proudest moment, when they were guests of honor at the museum’s grand opening. That line already sits on the First Lady title note. This page cross-links it lightly. It does not rewrite the induction page.

What this page will not do

No invented hours she spent marking drafts. No invented dialogue with Burton. No Facebook Davis anecdote treated as sourced. No claim that NCM film stills are licensed for this site. Period photographs of Elfi here are labelled period. NCM film screenshots stay UNLICENSED and are not used. No claim that Bentley or the museum asked for this note. No claim that the forthcoming novel is a partnership with General Motors, Chevrolet, or the National Corvette Museum.

Margot Dorée is writing First Lady of Corvette in that lane. North Star Publishing Group publishes. The retail title must say Corvette. The artefacts are labelled. Images remain UNLICENSED until a written license is in hand.

If you searched Elfi Arkus-Duntov Jerry Burton, you were looking for the authorized Zora biography and the widow years that made it possible. Museum copy says she enabled it. Publisher copy says hundreds of hours with Elfi. The tapes with Zora stay unpublished. Exact editorial role stays OPEN. The notes index holds the rest of the labelled doors.
